Nava is excited to announce we won a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Alaska Department of Health (DOH) Division of Public Assistance (DPA). We'll support DPA’s ongoing modernization of the state’s eligibility information system and integrated eligibility services. These systems enable state staff to determine applicants’ benefit eligibility and manage benefit applications across programs, like Medicaid or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Nava is a public benefit corporation on a mission to make government services simple and effective. For a decade, we’ve honed our expertise in supporting integrated eligibility and enrollment (IE&E) at the state level. We’re excited to share and build on this expertise with our partners in Alaska and help state staff provide quicker benefit determinations, enabling people to enroll in and receive benefits faster.
“This work has crucial impacts since nearly one-third of Alaskans rely on Medicaid,” said Sha Hwang, Nava’s Chief Operating Officer and co-founder. “This is our first contract with Alaska, during a critical time for the state, and we’re committed to helping the state to modernize its legacy systems with agile and human-centered design practices.”
Since 2015, Nava’s worked with local, state, and federal agencies to improve and simplify the process of administering critical public benefits. This partnership with Alaska is an opportunity to build on our previous IE&E work, such as work helping Vermont integrate the enrollment and eligibility processes for all 37 of the state’s benefit programs. In a matter of months, Nava helped Vermont reduce the number of days it took to provide eligibility information to SNAP applications and enabled Vermonters to submit eligibility documents electronically.
