Nava is excited to announce we won a contract with the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) to support the state’s unemployment insurance (UI) claimant portal and application. We’ll work with IDES on features that improve UI access and the experience of applying for and receiving benefits.

Nava is a public benefit corporation on a mission to make government services simple and effective. We’ve been trusted by the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL), the State of New Jersey, and the State of California to work on high-stakes UI projects that have served millions. We’re excited to broaden this experience into new work with Illinois.

“We’re honored that Illinois selected Nava for this critical work,“ said Rohan Bhobe, Nava’s Chief Executive Officer and co-founder. “Designing and implementing streamlined unemployment insurance experiences is a privilege, and will help IDES better serve constituents. We’ll work to improve benefit administration, document and data management, customer service, and reporting, and together we’ll support a stronger workforce for Illinois. As a native Illinoisan myself, it’s especially meaningful to support my home state.”

Nava has deep experience partnering with states and federal agencies on UI. We helped New Jersey launch a new claimant portal, enabling 90% of claimants to submit their application the same day they start it. During the pandemic, we helped Californians access UI benefits by partnering with the state to launch a UI certification tool in just six weeks. And with USDOL, we worked on nationally published UI reports and resources that helped states improve their UI programs.
