Nava is thrilled to announce that we’ll be teaming with prime contractor Corbalt on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Operations and System Reliability Engineering (OSRE) contract. This work is part of the Medicare Payment System Modernization (MPSM) program. Its systems process more than 1.1 billion claims a year and pay out over $400 billion annually for more than 60 million beneficiaries. Parts of the MPSM systems are over 40 years old.
Over the next five years, we’ll continue building and operating the infrastructure for MPSM’s cloud-based services, keeping CMS’ payment systems reliable and resilient, and shaping how providers and beneficiaries experience Medicare every day.
Nava is a public benefit corporation on a mission to make government services work better for the people they’re meant to serve. We combine our deep technology and domain expertise to help government agencies improve how people access essential services, reduce administrative burden, and build systems that are flexible to constant improvement. This win builds on our trusted partnership with CMS since 2015.
“We’re proud that CMS continues to partner with Nava to accelerate modernization of their legacy systems, especially during a time when technology is rapidly advancing,” said Marvin McLain, VP of Program Delivery for Nava’s Federal Health portfolio. “This win has been four years in the making — four years of our team showing up for CMS, day in and day out. By delivering measurable value, bringing deep technical expertise, and moving fast to get CMS to outcomes, we continue to be the trusted partner CMS can count on.”
Nava has supported OSRE since 2022, and this work sits alongside our broader CMS portfolio, including modernizing legacy Medicare data systems and helping CMS advance health care data interoperability with Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR), ensuring the right data is available at the right time so health care workers can concentrate on providing care.
“This is important, large-scale work. Almost two percent of the U.S. GDP runs through these systems,” said Rohan Bhobe, Nava’s Chief Executive Officer and co-founder. “We’re proud CMS trusts Nava to keep modernizing them.”
